Pula

Pula

Pula is a booming economic center that thrives on sports tourism, but has much to offer even for those who do not engage in sports.  With Pula average air temperature between 5°C in January and 23.2°C in July, Pula offers many excellent opportunities for tourists, whether they like it hot or cold.  For those who like to dance, gamble, yacht, or swim and everything in between, there are various Pula Arena attractions, which is why Pula is called "City of Arena".  Pula has been capturing the hearts of tourists since the 19th century and hundreds of people from around the world travel to Pula for a fabulous experience and Pula vacation.

Giovanni Carrara recorded the first excursions to Pula in 1828.  During this time, Pula tourists were guided about by Carrara, a conservator of antiquities in Pula.  His tourist excursions catered to distinguished personalities, as well as organized groups, and there is no doubt that Giovanni Carrara’s tourist excursions in Pula added to the body of knowledge known as Cenni al forestiero che visita Pola or Tips for A Foreigner Visiting Pula.  This first tourist guide, published in 1845, was compiled by Pietro Kandler and published by the Austrian Lloyd of Trieste, helping to boost this lovely Pula region for tourism.  As such, it is no surprise that the first public beach, Bagno Polese, was opened to Pula tourists a mere 40 years after the publication date, a time in which tourism to Pula grew and thrived to make it the booming center for sports tourism it is today attributed to the Pula Arena.

Pula Arena | Pula TravelDomestic and international sports teams visit Pula due to the many quality sports facilities and Pula arenas including tennis courts, football stadiums, track-and-field courses, and water sports facilities offering both indoor and outdoor swimming.  However, these sports facilities in Pula would not be so endearing to the sports enthusiast if Pula’s many entertainment programs did not accompany them.  Dance, music, and film, as well as numerous Pula hotels and Pula restaurants all help bolster the tourist appeal of Pula.

Since 1954, the Croatian Film Festival has been held every July in Pula, along with the Pop Music and the Art & Music Festivals, both offering rock music in Arena format for both the local Pula citizens, as well as the Pula tourists.  At approximately 23.2°C in July, the average air temperature in Pula is very accommodating to the various Pula Arena events in Pula.  However, in winter there are heavy winds.  Both the bora and the sirocco can be extremely strong; however, Pula offers many indoor Pula Arena activities as well.

Pula VacationIf you can’t be outdoors enjoying the red soil and low growing foliage of Pula, then going to one of the town’s two marinas, the well-known congress center Hotel Histria, or a discotheque may be just the thing.  Tourism opportunities in Pula are limited only to the tourist’s imagination.  Attractions for Pula tourists continue to increase in order to meet the rise in international air traffic and the influx of Pula tourism.  However, air is not the only way to reach Pula.  A thriving economic center, Pula, caters to the shipbuilding industry and has two marinas which also assist in the City of Arena’s international trade in textiles, metal, glass manufacturing, and the building trades.

There is much to see and do in Pula.  Whether you visit one of Pula Arena events, Pula festivals, or Pula yachting events, you are sure to find something new and different to do in Pula.  If football, track-and-field events, tennis, or simply hanging out on the beach are your idea of a wonderful vacation, you may want to serious consider visiting Pula and taking a Pula vacation.
